I have to go with hate it! ...

I think it becomes more interesting as you read the two remaining books, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed. A movie is due out, too. Some might think the trilogy is a very romantic story with a touch of eroticism, which imo, it is.

It's good that the book has made the subject a bit more popular

The books were okay - not good, not great, just okay - but I have a feeling the movie is going to s-u-c-k!

I loved all THREE of the books. The draw in the beginning was indeed the erotica. I got into the story itself and began to realize that it was a love story--a deep love story. Not a love that's sweet and uncomplicated. Some could look at the elements of obsession, jealousy, etc. and say, "Uh oh! An unhealthy abusive relationship". Some say porn. I say a love story with intense desire and passion. It's one that has to work it's way through dysfunction and pain in order to blossom into a relationship that the main characters are capable of. They are making it into something that works for them...because, like anyone's relationship, it only has to work for them.

It's badly written and very tame. I listened via an audio book hoping a female voice reading may make me hard. It failed. Only good thing it's done is encourage more women to talk about kinky stuff. Men needed no encouragement! Check out my blog and profile!

wasnt impressed as a Dom it left a lot of the lifestyle out and attracted a few wannabes I think - not sure it didnt do more harm than good to the BDSM community, then again it exposed millions that that had no idea of the kinks

I think you and I should remake that movie

I get a kick out of the books as comedy

Have not read the books, or seen the movie, however every report is it is VERY tame. If you want to read something much more hardcore on the subject, try the Sleeping Beauty Series by Anne Rice (originally published under the pen name of A. N. Roquelaure but since she has long ago acknowledged that it was indeed her, listings now use her name on them). I did not realize she's done a 4th book, I only ever read the first 3. Even Exit to Eden (another of her books published under the name Ann Rampling) was less tame than 50 Shades. Forget the movie even exists, whoever agreed to turn it into a comedy with Rosie O'Donnell and Dan Ackroyd should be shot. There is almost nothing in common with the book, except perhaps some names of characters. The book is a true BDSM love story.
